Four States Fall 2018 - 15 - Walking the Short North

The Short North is a trendy district in Columbus. Lots of shops, coffee houses, beer and wine bars, restaurants, galleries in converted warehouses, and condo / apartments. High Street is the main drag. The convention center is at one end and Ohio State University campus is at the other. At night, lit arches canopy the street for a festive vibe.

Today most folks wore fun attire and lots of red (Ohio State Buckeye colors are red and white). Ohio had played the Minnesota Golden Gophers (where did that name come from?!). Luckily the Buckeyes won 30-14, so everyone was in a festive mood. Still, Mike and I were not advertising that we are loyal U. of Michigan fans...the Buckeyes are our "arch rivals!"

Lots of fun art along the street.

Even construction barriers were colorfully decorated.
Cars were artsy, too.
They have ride-away scooters available for rent. It looked pretty scary to me...for pedestrians on the sidewalk and for the scooter-ers on the street. Here's a day and night version.

After visiting the city market we were all a bit hungry and definitely thirsty. We stopped at the Short North Tavern for a nacho snack and cocktails. They had an old fashion radio and TV collection displayed around the room.

Every time we visit this area, we always look at the housing situation. It would be such a cool neighborhood to live. We look, but that is as far as it goes.

I love this old building turned into offices and several restaurants. Reminds me of Rome.
