Nothing special that first night except catching up on the latest news. We met Jim's sister for dinner, as usual in Marysville. It was an Asian place named Sakura. Good food and fancy cocktails.
After breakfast the next morning, we trundled off to Columbus, maybe 45 minutes away. On just about every trip down that way, we include a day trip to somewhere in C. This time we were going to overnight.
Jim traveled a lot on the job and has millions of hotel points. As it was Mike's birthday trip, J & K treated us to a snazzy room at the downtown Columbus Hilton, located in the fabulous Short North District.
We took the elevator up and overlooked the common areas. Looking down, day and night version.
Looking up.
Lots of art to enjoy.
Our room was fit for a birthday celebration.
Nice amenities! I absolutely loved the powerful magnifying, lighted bathroom mirror (lower left). It was the best I had ever seen. Our view was over much of the city including the famous shopping area called the Short North. Here's the day and night version.
As we were on a concierge floor, there was also a special lounge we could relax in. Before setting out to explore, we had a wind down cocktail here.
Thank you again, Jim and Kathy!
Before departure the next morning, we also enjoyed a light buffet breakfast there and some tasty cappuccinos prepared through by machine (like we experienced in many of the hotels in Italy).
